Rase Veterinary Centre is proud to be one of only five veterinary centres in the UK equipped with the Qalibra Computed Tomography (CT) system. This cutting-edge technology provides exceptional diagnostic imaging while offering significant advantages for both patients and clinicians.
One of Qalibra’s most innovative features is its ability to acquire high-quality CT images in standing, sedated horses. Many anatomical regions that traditionally require general anaesthesia can now be examined safely and efficiently with the horse remaining on its feet, reducing anaesthetic risk, shortening recovery times, and making advanced imaging accessible to a wider range of patients.

The system’s state-of-the-art technology delivers remarkably fast image acquisition. A 16 cm scan volume—often sufficient to image an entire hoof—can be completed in as little as 5 seconds, while a complete head CT can typically be acquired in under 30 seconds. Faster scan times help minimise patient movement and improve image quality, resulting in highly detailed diagnostic studies.
The Qalibra system also features a wider bore than conventional veterinary CT scanners, allowing access to anatomical regions that are often difficult or impossible to image using standard equipment.

Every CT study performed at Rase is interpreted by our board-certified Veterinary Radiologist, Dr Linda Rutigliano (MRCVS, Dip ECVDI), ensuring accurate, clinically relevant reports that support the best possible patient care.
In addition to reporting studies acquired at Rase, Dr Rutigliano also provides interpretation of externally acquired imaging, whether you require a primary report or an independent second opinion.
While we are passionate about equine imaging, our advanced CT service is equally available for farm animals, including sheep, goats, camelids and other species (including zoo animals) where advanced diagnostic imaging can significantly aid diagnosis and treatment planning.
